I've reached the point where I hate my job. Well, it's not my actual job that I hate so much, but I can't bear to be on a team anymore that doesn't share the same values that I do. I'm not blaming them, or making it sound like they are bad people...the bottom line is, they aren't INTERNALLY DRIVEN to excel or to care about anything other than themselves and their own personal social lives. As a result, I feel like I (and 2 other people on the same team) are the only ones who give a damn about any of it. Unfortunately the three of us are simply shat upon by our manager and his little cronies...so...out. I want out. I'll miss the people I work with outside of the team, and I'll miss the product I support. And oddly enough, I might even miss the customers. This environment is one I could totally blossom in, but not while I'm on this same team. No way.
So I've applied for a somewhat similar (though smaller in scope) QA position under another manager, testing apps I have never worked with, but my hope is that on another team, I'll actually be TRAINED in my job, and be able to learn a skill. Right now the only skill I'm learning is how to just barely keep my head above water, while everyone else throws me boulders to try to help me float. F*ck 'em. There's no changing them...all I can change is my own situation...so off I go, to see what other worlds have to offer. Maybe someday I'll finally find a team with the same internal drive for excellence and improvement.
Wish me luck.
