Greetings from the latest version of the KCWC Wardrobe Mistress! :) I came upon this position kind of sideways, heh. Since my high school days, I've sewn for theatrical purposes, and the last several years have had me drafting my own Renaissance Festival costumes, including the dreaded bodice. Turns out, nothing is really all THAT scary to sew, once you know how.

So back in March, I was looking at the sizing chart of the Southeastern catalog, and Holly happened upon me, saw me eyeing the measurements, and asked if I was interested in running with the Wardrobe Mistress job. I kind of laughed, not realizing the offer was a serious one, and the next week at rehearsal, Melinda greeted me as the new WM and said she'd be my assistant.

*blinks*

Well, okay, what the hell? So I'm running with it.

I adore theatre, and adore the flamboyancy of costuming, and am fairly handy with a needle and thread (and machine), but by no means am I an expert, as I'm still chugging along on the old Brother machine that my mom passed along to me 25-ish years ago. I've never run a serger, but, like the bodices, how hard can it really be? Plus, I know there are loads of folks out there who also love to sew AND have the fancy-schmancy equipment to go with it, so as a team, I'm confident we'll be just fine.

The attire for the winter holiday concert will look amazing, but getting us all to the point of owning what we need to each have may be a little painful. If you're reading this now and are a member of KCWC, please start saving your pennies now, as we'll be asking for payment by mid-September. Exact dollar amounts will be determined later, but for a ball-park figure, aim for $100-ish. More if you want to buy pants, less if you already own pants.

Stay tuned for more details! :)
