*squee*

Auditions this weekend went GREAT. Wendy picked me up around 7:45 on Saturday morning, and in the car with her were her daughter Erin and a friend, Don, who works with the yeomen group that includes Sean Murphy. Apparently the yeomen will be joining JRF and he wanted to see the grounds and get the inside scoop, so was along for the ride. We stopped for breakfast at Waffle House and then were on our way. The ride down was uneventful....stopped in Nevada for a bathroom break and to buy some drinks, and we got a little lost along the way (we overshot our exit, thinking it was going to be a Joplin exit and didn't know to look for it around the Carthage area), but eventually found our way to the Community Clinic and headed upstairs.

The collection of people there was small...maybe a dozen people, give or take, but there were enough familiar faces from WHRF that I immediately felt like I was home again. :) I think it's funny how that is...I was on the fence about doing WH again, but after seeing the people I've hung with the last 2 summers, I SO want to go back again. *sigh* Remind of this when I gripe about not having any free weekends this summer, heh.

Wendy and I filled out our paperwork and had our pictures taken and then it was time for us to go in. There was a panel of 6 people for us to interact with, and the audition went something like this:

Wendy: We present to you our papers to enter the country of FRANCE!
Me (smacking Wendy): We're in ENGLAND!!
Wendy: We present to you our papers to enter the country of ENGLAND!!

I then led our introductions, and explained that we had come to them (pretending they were a panel of guildmasters or the like) because our ship The Vixen (to which Wendy referred to it as The Victim) had become damaged after an attack by an albatross (to which Wendy started blathering on about applesauce.) I explained that we'd lost a goodly portion of our supplies, and while we did recover some of it, much of it remained lost. We hoped that the panel would help us fund the repair of our ship and also help replenish our supplies.

Eric (Captain Drake) asked who our captain was, which was a perfect lead-in for another schtick we'd planned on doing, and we explained that our captain was our sister, Mercy, and then Wendy gave a description of Mercy: 3 feet tall, 600 pounds (I smacked her and told her that Mercy would kill her for giving that description), so she corrected that by saying she was 6 feet tall, and an Amazon (I smacked her again and gave a proper description.)

We then presented our list of supplies that needed to be replaced. I had taken an Avon order form and written the following (after I read each item, Wendy went off on a tangent about each one):

1 case of pink lipstick (50,000 pounds)
20,000 gambling cards (for Mercy) - (20,000 pounds)
4 kegs of ale (75,000 pounds, we like the good stuff)
1 pet monkey for Hope (that is Wendy's character name) - (6,000 pounds)
14 disposable cabin boys, virgins all (for me) - (1200 pounds)

and...

1 map to France (priceless!)

I'd burned the edges of the avon slip and crumpled it so it would look like good proper pirate paper (haha) and left it in Di's hands in the hopes that they would actually read the paper after we left.

We made our goodbyes and left the room, closing the door behind us. The people outside the room clapped for us (they couldn't hear our audition, and were instead simply giving support), and in a few minutes the members of the panel came out and told us we were GREAT and had ANY part we wanted to play, yay! Eric told me in the kitchen that he was SO excited to have us, and that we'll be a bright spot of joy to watch as we play in the lanes, which has me wondering if the rest of the cast (so far) seems to be rather weak or at least very quiet.

I'm giddy with excitement, and with Amanda's help yesterday figured out exactly which fabrics I'm going to use to build my costume. I've emailed the Pyrate guys to make me a hat, and I need to go order a pistol to carry from Museum Replicas. My sword will come from Michelle (yay!), and I just need to go pick up a pattern to make my pirate coat before I can start working on my costume. *hugs herself* If only I didn't have the addition of homework to deal with, I'd be working on it nightly right now.

I. Can't. Wait. :D
