Twenty minutes into my workday, we had a fire alarm go off at work. Apparently there's a sprinkler head on the 6th floor that is faulty, and has gone off randomly 3 times in the last week. You'd think they'd fix something like that. I guess the first time it went off, it flooded an entire conference room, heh. Anyway, so this morning it went off again, and we had to plow down 11 flights of stairs, all in a row. Eleven flights might not sound like a lot, but going around and around in that stairwell 22 times sure makes you think differently. We stood outside in the cold for about 5-10 minutes, and then were allowed back in. Since the elevators were going to be packed, I figured I'd trudge back up the 11 flights...

It just about caused me to pass out. Maybe I should start exercising again, hah!

As we all marched down the stairs, though, I was reminded of the Sept 11th disaster. Those people had way more than just 11 flights to go down. It seemed to take forever just to go down 11...I shudder to think about how horrible it must have been to know that there was an ACTUAL emergency happening, and you had 100+ flights to go down. Geez. Gives you a whole new perspective altogether on what those people went through.

Yikes.
