Wooo...
Well, here's some fun! Last night before I left work, I asked if I would need to be here early to do any testing, as today's my 24-hr period to be on call. They weren't sure, but would call me by 10 to tell me for sure. Well, I got a call around 6pm, telling me I'd need to be in by 6am to test. No sweat. Then at 8pm, I got another call, telling me I'd need to be in by 2am. Hmm. Okay, well, that means I'd need to leave my house by 1am as there's hella snow out there to get through, so I would need to get up by midnight in order to be able to shower and get dressed, etc. Which means that if I went to bed RIGHT THEN, I'd get in a whopping 4 hours of sleep. Yikes.
So I hopped into bed, and got up to take a phone call at 10pm from another guy at work who just wanted to make sure I knew I had to be in at 2am, and then got up at midnight, and went out to my car at 1am. I got as far as backing out of the garage, and got stuck. To make a very long story short, even with Mike's help, we now have not only my car, but Mike's car as well, stuck in snowdrifts in our yard. At around 1:45 am, I called work and explained the situation...I had called Allstate, and was told the tow truck would be there in 45 minutes. Well, 5 hours later, there was still no sign of the tow truck. I managed to get most of my testing done from home, and a friend at work helped to take care of the testing that I couldn't do remotely. (Thanks, Mark!)
Mike called a friend to take him to work, and I did the same (Thanks, Doug!). So here I sit, and just got a call from the boss, letting me know that we'd have to repeat the whole testing cycle again (possibly a few more times today, even), as the site's gone down (again) and is being pushed through a maintenance cycle before it's put back up for public use. *sigh* Gotta love the peak of tax-time, hey?
Mike's going to call the towing company his work uses, and see if they can at least get the 2 vehicles un-stuck, and put my car out on the street. Springtime, please hurry.
And during all of this mess, one of my cats was out playing in the snow, the little jerk. And a very hammered friend from the Crate decided it'd be a wise time to email me (drunkenly, did I mention that?). Hah! Funny how everything happens all at once, sometimes.
OH! And I forgot my badge to get into work, too.
Welcome to Friday.
