Hah...I think I scared some people this morning. I got my hair trimmed last night, and at the haircutting place, I picked up this stuff called Designing Taffy. Since I'm trying to grow my hair out for Fest, I asked the hairdresser for some ideas on how I could deal with my hair without causing continuous damage. She recommended that I go for the messy sort of look, which would allow me to just wash my hair and put some stuff in it that keeps it messy looking, and then let it go. That would eliminate the need for a hairdryer and curling iron every day. Cool. So I bought this stuff and used it this morning.
Since the messy hair gives me kind of a rough look, I needed clothing to go along with it. So I tossed on some gray cords that are too big, and a dark blue Old Navy long sleeved top, and my old cowboy boots, and stuffed the cords down into the tops of the boots. Added my brown leather jacket and some shades, and I was good to go.
I strolled into the lobby at work, and there were 2 men waiting for the elevator already. They both looked to see who was coming to join them as the elevator doors opened, and both kept stealing glances at me, as if they weren't sure what to make of the whole thing. When we got into the elevator, they pressed buttons that correspond to the other big company in this building, so they're not Block employees. I stood in the middle of the elevator, and they both seemed to try to press into the back corners in an effort to keep as far away from me as possible. The ride seemed to be pretty awkward for them, and they exited as quickly as they could when they reached their floor, one of them giving a backward glance to make sure I wasn't following.
I couldn't help but grin as they left...being different can be pretty damn fun in a corporate environment. Hah!
